Moving House

Hello again!,
It's been a while since I've  blogged because I have been moving house ..OMG I forgot how stressful and tiring it is! It's when you see your whole life in storage boxes and bin bags, you have to ask yourself 'where did it all come from? how can 1 person accumulate so much stuff!?' Anyway, after fighting my way through cardboard boxes and tape to find everything and put it in its place, Im starting to see the carpet again and realise that there's a house underneath all this chaos! I'ts finally starting to feel like home.. which feels nice :0)

I thought this print was quite an appropriate one to post ' Home Sweet Home' from my Myla-May collection.

Butterfly Collection (Work in Progress)..

One day I thought it would be a nice idea to work on some butterfly designs. Firstly, I wanted to just concerntrate on the pattern rather than colour, so I started doodling straight onto the computer using Illustrator, I made the lines blue to emulate a biro drawing, which I think looks quite effective. After drawing afew different butterflies, I added a hint of colour, then turned them into a repeat pattern. I'm not sure about it now, so Ive ground to a halt. I don't really know where to take it from here, so I've decided to put it into the 'work in progress' folder until further notice. I may go back to it, I may not.. these things happen sometimes! Although, I did use 2 of the butterflies in the header pattern on my blog, so my time wasn't completely waisted!

I didn't totally give up on the whole butterfly idea, after afew scribbles in my sketch book, I decided to get out my paints and work on a collection. I found painting this subject quite challenging, because of all the detail and pattern but I have really enjoyed working on them!
I still have to put the finishing touches to a couple, but they will soon be ready to go on sale in Dee Fine Arts at the end of the Month. Here's a sneek preview!

This one's still on the easel..I have just one more butterfly to finish!

From Doodles to Paintings Part 1

Most of my time is spent designing on the computer, so from time to time it's nice to get away from the screen and draw and paint freely. I have always enjoyed drawing and painting from a young age, I've played with many different mediums, but always felt more comfortable with acrylics so decided to stick with them! When I've had the chance, I've shown my work in local exhibitions and sold afew pieces which has been nice! It's an enjoyable hobby and any spare time I get, out come my paints and easel!.. I find painting so therapuetic and relaxing, I wish I could do it more often!
Before I start with a project, I roughly sketch my ideas on paper and after afew scribbles, I'm happy to go for it on the canvas!
This is my Cupcake collection which are currently in a little Gallery Shop called Dee Fine Arts in Heswall, Wirral.

If you are interested in any of my paintings please get in touch :0)x

Harrogate Home & Gift 2013

Phew! It's been a busy couple of weeks.. although a week of that was enjoying a holiday on a Greek Island, although sunbathing, swimming and eating everyday can be exhausting! ..Anyway as soon as I was back home it was back to reality, I was off to Harrogate to dress the Deva Designs stand..  I must say it did look very pretty!
Deva was showing off the new Autumn/ Christmas 2013 collection and despite the blistering heat in the Halls this year, there was a very positive response! The weather was probably the best for years, but walking around the show, I felt so sorry for the people suffering the lack of air-con!  But, despite it being so uncomfortable, there was still a friendly atmosphere and they still had a smile on their faces which was very admirable :-)

I know it's all a bit weird that we should be looking at Christmas at this time of year, but thought you might want to see some snaps anyway;-)x. Watch out for the new collection on the website soon! www.devadesigns.co.uk/

Gingerbread is very on trend this Christmas.

I designed these! The Jolly Christmas Collection.

Foils and Kraft Paper are a big hit this Christmas too!

I'm all packed and ready for my holiday to the pretty Greek Islands of Santorini and Ios, very excited! I'm taking my sketch pad just incase I get chance to doodle between sunbathing and soaking up the Greek culture!

Oops nearly forgot to pack my beach ball! See you in a week!xx

Doodle Bug..

I love doodling! It's so therapuetic! Any spare time I get, I grab a pen & create patterns and little characters, I enjoy being in my own little doodle world! I also have the memory of a gold fish so if I ever get an idea, I have to jot it down quickly so I dont forget it! Sometime doodles grow and can develop into something beautiful! I think it's because they are so relaxed and capture the moment.

I started off drawing a little flower and then it just grew!

Flowers were the chosen subject of the day!

I developed this doodle further by adding colour and using it on the header of my Blog Page!

Here are some doodles I found online..

This is clever and cute..

I Found this doodle on Pinterest, its part of a collection of Ball point pen doodles  by Michelle called 'generally speaking'

And for the Boys...

Baby Collection

Alot of my ideas start off as doodles in my sketch book. When I'm happy with them, I either re-draw them on the computer or scan and trace around them. I use Illustrator CS6 and use my mouse to draw with because I like the wobbly effect it gives to the lines. I have often thought about using a Wacom tablet for drawing and it's probably alot easier! I will give it go one day!
