Butterfly Collection (Work in Progress)..

One day I thought it would be a nice idea to work on some butterfly designs. Firstly, I wanted to just concerntrate on the pattern rather than colour, so I started doodling straight onto the computer using Illustrator, I made the lines blue to emulate a biro drawing, which I think looks quite effective. After drawing afew different butterflies, I added a hint of colour, then turned them into a repeat pattern. I'm not sure about it now, so Ive ground to a halt. I don't really know where to take it from here, so I've decided to put it into the 'work in progress' folder until further notice. I may go back to it, I may not.. these things happen sometimes! Although, I did use 2 of the butterflies in the header pattern on my blog, so my time wasn't completely waisted!

I didn't totally give up on the whole butterfly idea, after afew scribbles in my sketch book, I decided to get out my paints and work on a collection. I found painting this subject quite challenging, because of all the detail and pattern but I have really enjoyed working on them!
I still have to put the finishing touches to a couple, but they will soon be ready to go on sale in Dee Fine Arts at the end of the Month. Here's a sneek preview!

This one's still on the easel..I have just one more butterfly to finish!

From Doodles to Paintings Part 2

Following on from my Cup Cake collection I have painted a collection of naive scenes with rolling hills, little houses and bubble trees with funny birdies. They all started life as a doodle..
